Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Engineering. The job holder will have direct responsibility for the professional engineering teams in the north and Scotland.
The job includes providing support to: strategic planning, assessment of customer requirements, identifying opportunities, liaising with customers and suppliers, business strategies and partnerships, submitting bids and proposals and promoting the company generally.
Primary Role
To represent the company at the board level in relevant technical forums. To oversee the technical integrity and quality of design processes, products and outputs of the professional engineering teams in meeting customer requirements. To support the development of company policy and strategy. To support the development of new business. The management and profitable of all allocated projects and tasks. To develop budget plans and contributing to the tender. Communicating with staff, subcontractors,partners & customers and the assessment of communication effectiveness. •The creation and maintenance of harmony within teams, customers and partners. •Support the improvement of engineering business processes. •Taking a lead role in the review, maintenance and upkeep of QA documentation. •Provide specialist engineering advice to other business units.
Secondary Role
•Staff training needs and their development. •To undertake specific assignments as may be required. •To ensure harmony and compatibility of the work force.
Minimum Qualification:
•Degree in an engineering discipline relevant to maritime engineering and related areas; •Chartered Engineer for 5 years or more; •15 yrs relevant engineering experience in marine engineering and related areas, with a large amount in a design environment; •Senior management experience, preferably within the commercial marine sector.
